Day 106 And Still No Sign of Ricky

Story Created: October 14, 2005

It is very hard to keep writing about Ricky’s disappearance because there simply is no news forthcoming. I have an opinion about what happened to Ricky but it is just that and needs to stay that, just an opinion.
I can’t believe that he can still be alive after this many days. It is not as though he is a teen that could possibly survive. Some hold out hope because Elizabeth Smart went missing for 10 months and then she was found. That was an absolute miracle but one cannot compare the two children. Ricky was 7 years-old when he disappeared compared to Elizabeth’s I think 12 years. Ricky has mental and behavior problems that most kidnappers would not be able to deal with for too long before becoming impatient and scared. In the case that a kidnapper would have become scared with Ricky’s behaviors I would hope that he or she would have dropped him off somewhere close to his home. The other alternative of a kidnapper that would have become frustrated with Ricky’s behaviors most likely they would have los patience and murdered him perhaps in a fit of rage.I really do not believe that Ricky Holland vanished from his home. I believe that the answers lie inside of his home and with his parents. I recall Lisa Holland mentioning that she had left for the store at around 8 a.m. July 2nd. She said she “forgot something” and came back home and that is when she told Tim to wake up the kids. Now I suppose the news media would not think this a big deal but an omission of what she forgot that caused her to return home is perhaps telling in and of itself. Most people would say what they forgot as it would be important to mention. Maybe I am being too critical of the phrase but I think most people would have said perhaps “I forgot my checkbook and had to go back home.”

I am a bit annoyed with Tim being unwilling to go to the national media because of his extremely high security job and apparently his employer, who I believe is the U.S. Army forbade him from appearing in the mainstream media.

If I had a child missing, I would be damned if an employer, U.S. Army or not would tell me I could not do everything I needed to do to get my son’s missing story out there so he could be found. Jobs are jobs. Even if Tim needed to keep a low-profile because of his job I do not see why that would keep Lisa from appearing in the national media. I wonder if things would be different if the child that was missing was their biological child.

The victim’s advocate on the case mentioned the above reasons for the Holland’s not appearing in the mainstream media. In my view she came to the forum and made some comments in this blog to do some sort of damage control for the Holland’s. How do I even know that person was a victim’s advocate? It could have been the Holland family attorney for all I know.

I set up this blog, the website and the forum to keep Ricky’s name and picture out in public view so no one forgets the little guy.

Day 96 And a Bed Comforter Seized

Story Created: October 4, 2005

Police seized a bed comforter today while serving a third search warrant on the home of Tim and Lisa Holland (pictured at left). I wonder what police want with the bed comforter. I am thinking out loud here. A bed comforter could have blood stains. Police may have found fibers from the bed comforter in one of the Holland’s vehicles that were seized during the last search warrant. I suppose it would be odd to have fibers from a bed comforter inside of a vehicle unless of course the Holland’s made regular use of a Laundromat. I think that would be highly unlikely because the Holland’s have 5 children and own their home. Most likely they can afford a washer and dryer.

Whatever the reason was for seizing the bed comforter it appears from the comments from the investigator that they got exactly what they intended to find.

Detective Sgt. Roy Holliday could not confirm Tuesday what officers took from the house, but did say they had a search warrant. “…We were looking for something specific,” he said. “We found it…”

While the detective said he could not confirm what they took from the house the family attorney told reporters what was removed.

“…Neil Rockind, the Holland’s attorney, called the search warrants “a lot of grasping at straws.” …“The Hollands [sic] have nothing to hide,” the Farmington Hills attorney said. “There’s nothing malevolent or nefarious or even suggestive of their involvement in anything.”

It feels good to hear that investigators are still working hard to come to a resolution to Ricky’s disappearance. I am baffled that there is not at least one reporter in the MSM that is willing to write about this story. Perhaps the reason for lack of MSM coverage is that Tim’s employer has some sort of control over reporting of the story.
Someone claiming to be a Victim’s Advocate for the family has made comments at my blog for Ricky as well as at my forum for Ricky explaining why Tim and Lisa Holland have not appeared in the MSM.
She/He claims it is due to the high security nature of Tim Holland’s work. She claims that Tim’s employer forbade him to appear in MSM and allowed him to only appear in the local media. I wonder what type of job Tim Holland has that it would be worth it to him to not appear in MSM to help find his son. He mentions in local press stories how much he loves Ricky and how special he was to him.
I did extend an invitation to Tim and Lisa Holland to visit and participate on my forum. I extended that invitation through a reporter as well as through the Victim’s Advocate. I never did hear from the reporter. The Victim’s Advocate said that most likely Tim and Lisa would not participate on the forum; however she hoped that they would at least visit the forum and the web site so that they could see that someone else also cares about their son.
