Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Story Created: November 10, 2005

I posed the following questions on my Ricky Holland Forum:

1) Why have the parents of Ricky Holland, Tim and Lisa Holland been silent in the media regarding the disappearance of their son?2) Why did they get an attorney?

Someone claiming to be the Victim’s Advocate for, I guess the family, posted a response.

“There are a few reasons you’ve not seen Tim and Lisa on any national coverage, but much of that is personal and I am not willing to share it without their consent. I can tell you that Tim’s job is very high security. The work that he does is confidential and, because of this, he can only appear with local media.
Please know that just because you don’t see them, it doesn’t mean that they’ve not been active in his search. They have been very involved from the start, and have done more for the search than I could write in this post.
Regarding their reasons for obtaining an attorney, again, I can’t speak for them. However, I would have done the same thing. The way the media has a tendency to distort facts to appeal to a viewing audience that seems to only want “drama drama drama” these days, obtaining a lawyer is a good way to ensure that very little inconsistency occurs and it minimizes finger pointing. The Ramsey case is an excellent example of that…”
Well, the Holland’s have certainly made excellent use of their attorney. He has spoken for them frequently in the past couple of months when they were served with search warrants, a total of four.
As far as Tim’s job is concerned, I saw a reference made to his employment in one article and it stated that Tim is in the Armed Forces. The article did not indicate which branch of the Armed Forces but I believe it to be the U.S. Army. The only reason I say this is because there have been several visits from military sites to this blog as well as to the web sites I have set up for Ricky. It is just a guess that it is the U.S. Army.
I read over the articles published during the first month of Ricky’s disappearance. You can view the articles at the Forum. Interestingly almost all quotes were from Tim, I believe there were only two quotes attributed to “the parents” and one attributed to Lisa. The quote attributed to Lisa was when she stated “No that is not my son.” this was when she viewed a surveillance video from a Mc Donald’s restaurant.
The only other quotes I have read attributed recently to Lisa Holland were last month when she referred reporters to her attorney for comments regarding the search warrants, and one other quote when she disputed the information that she had told police that Ricky had packed his backpack with items that have been mentioned in the media. She claims she just made a list for the police of things she noticed missing from the home.
The only quote I have read of either Tim or Lisa Holland stating that they love or miss their son was one from Tim Holland:

“I tell him all the time: he may not have come from mommy’s tummy but you came from her heart and my heart,” Tim said about Ricky. “We tell him all the time that we love him more than life itself.”

    Actions speak louder than words.

    Excuses:
    1) I would be out searching but the police have told me to stay home so that they can bring Ricky to me.

    2) I would be out searching for you but the police told me I need to stay home in case you call or come home.

    3) I would go on National Television to make a plea for your safe return but my job is very high security. My employer told me I can’t appear in the national media, only the local media. But they printed thousands of fliers for me and your mom to distribute all over the state and we have done that.

    4) During an interview at our attorney’s office I know it looked bad when I really didn’t say much and just stared out of the window and your mom kept answering her cell phone.

We really do love you; we just don’t know how to show it through action.

      1. Previous neighbor here again…..I believe they aren’t looking hard enough….I’m surprised it’s taking so long….I don’t say to much because I believe I may go to court against the Hollands if they can ever find him. I never believed he was a run away from the beginning. I believe they know exactly where he is…. poor Ricky. I pray they find him soon. I met Ricky once….he was about 4 years old I believe….he seemed like a well mannered boy to me…..it’s the parents I’m not to sure about….but I was never able to actually say why….they were the kind of neighbor’s who usually kept to themselves and pretty quiet….the children never played in the yard or were ever outside much that I saw and I lived by them about 4 years.

      2. I am not quite sure what you mean when you say you believe you may go to court against the Hollands once Ricky is found. It does not sound from the remainder of your comment that you had much to do with them so I don’t understand why you would have grounds for a lawsuit or court action against the Hollands.

As far as the other children playing outside they were really too young to be outside playing in the yard. Ricky is the eldest at now 8 years. The other’s are much younger, I believe all under the age of 5.

      3. See…you know more about the kids than I do and I lived right by them all that time.

I believe I may end up in court as a witness….not a law suit or court action against them….I only talked to them a few times….but I have been questioned by some detectives….and a child care worker on the Hollands.

      4. “Ricky is the oldest of the five children. His four siblings are all 3 years old and younger. The youngest is Tim and Lisa’s biological child. The three other children are Ricky’s half-siblings (same mother). The adoption of the youngest of Ricky’s half-siblings was final in August…”

The above was posted by someone claiming to be the victim’s advocate for the case. It was posted at the forum I have set up for Ricky. I invite you to visit the forum if you have not done so already and read the news articles that are posted there. I wish more people would comment at the forum, many do visit. Not many have registered.

Perhaps the child care worker was questioning you because the Holland’s were in the final process of adopting their last child, perhaps it had to do with Ricky’s disappearance or the welfare of the other children in the Holland home.

As you can see from the above quote I was in error partially about the ages of the other children as I did not remember that they were all under the age of 3.

I don’t live in MI, btw, I just care about what happened to Ricky. Any information I have is from news accounts from the local MI newspaper.

      5. WHY didn’t anyone make any calls concerning the welfare of this child while there was still hope to save him?? Why don’t people speak up? SO many people are coming out of the woodwork now to talk about how strange Lisa and Tim were. NOW IS TOO LATE! :(

You will see several entries there covering the recent arrests, discovery of the remains as well as the positive identification of those remains. Yes, unfortunately, Ricky Holland was murdered by either one or both of his adoptive parents.
