Holland Parental Rights Terminated

Story Created: December 18, 2006

Update:

Judge Lawless has officially terminated the parental rights of the 3 remaining siblings of Ricky Holland as well as the Holland’s biological daughter. The children are now considered wards of the state and are available for adoption. [Source]

Today a custody hearing was held in the Ingham County Family courtroom of Judge Janelle Lawless. Tim and Lisa Holland were both in attendance for the hearing. Tim Holland agreed voluntarily to give up his parental rights to his remaining adopted children. Tim Holland plead guilty to second-degree murder earlier this year in the death of his adopted son Ricky Holland. The remaining adopted children – ages 5 years to 2 years are Ricky’s siblings.

However, true to form, Lisa Holland is making the court decide to revoke her parental rights to the children.

Judge Lawless is expected to rule on that decision at 3 p.m. today. No decision was made regarding the Holland’s biological daughter. The current home for Ricky’s remaining siblings is with two of Tim Holland’s sisters.

I Am Still Going to Write…

Story Created: December 11, 2006

I apologize to those of you who have come by to read my thoughts about the recently released reports regarding the handling of Ricky’s case by DHS and various other entities.

A week ago today I received news of my mother’s death. My mother and I had been estranged for a few years and I was not able to say my final goodbye to her. My mother over the past few years had entered the world of Alzheimer’s. I had the occasion about 4 or 5 months ago to attempt to speak to her and she was pleasant enough. She greeted me with a smile, asked me my name and said it was nice to meet me – she no longer knew me as her daughter.

I am trying to live day-to-day with the emotions of her passing. As soon as I am able to coherently write an entry I will.
