The New Homes of Tim And Lisa Holland
Story Created: March 25, 2007
Today during my travels on the Internet I ran across the Michigan Department of Corrections Offender Tracking website. I thought would stop by and see just what it is like now for Tim and Lisa Holland in their new homes.
Wow, Lisa doesn’t look too happy in that photo. It was taken on November 28, 2006. The photo was taken 1 day prior to her sentencing and approximately 1 month after she was found guilty of first-degree murder and first-degree child abuse in the death of her adopted son 7-year-old Ricky.
If you click on the image you can see a larger image of Lisa Gail Holland, convicted child murderer.
The Robert Scott Correctional Facility in Plymouth, Michigan is Lisa Holland’s new home. She is known by her MDOC#625881, her SID#2612719H and her status is listed as prisoner.
From the The Robert Scott Correctional Facility website:
“…The Robert Scott Correctional Facility serves as the reception center for all newly-committed female prisoners. It is located on 35 acres in western Wayne County. Housing consists of five double-winged and one single-winged units, day room areas, laundry rooms and staff offices.
One building complex contains areas for food preparation, prisoner and staff dining, and health care; another, a warehouse and maintenance. The administration building comprises executive offices, a records section, visiting rooms, non-contact visiting rooms, staff training rooms and the facility’s control center.(…)”[Source]
It appears that Lisa will have a lot of opportunities during her stay in prison. The prison facility offers opportunities for a high school education, and vocational classes.
She will also have the opportunity to earn her keep while in prison. The incarcerated who are employed by Michigan State Industries participate in the manufacture of janitorial products, plastic bags and dentures. Great. So the next time you take out the trash, clean your toilet, or see granny putting their dentures in the soak cup for the night you can thank Lisa Holland for those things.
If Lisa should begin to suffer from a mental illness or a substance abuse problem there are services at the prison for those ailments. If Lisa should ever decide that she did harm Ricky there are parenting and domestic violence classes she can attend.
Should Lisa catch a cold or the flu or when it is time for her teeth to be cleaned, hey, medical and dental services are available there. If she ever develops a serious illness she can be taken to Duane L. Waters Hospital in Jackson or at a local hospital.
Those are the positives of prison life for Lisa Holland. She may be sentenced to life in prison without parole but even behind bars she will have some sort of a life.
The Standish Maximum Correctional Facility in Standish, Michigan is Tim Holland’s new home. He is known now by his MDOC#619407, his SID#2621391M, and his status just like his wife is that of prisoner.
Tim is not looking too chipper either. His photo was snapped on November 15, 2006, the day he was sentenced to 30-60 years in prison for his role in the death of his adopted son, Ricky.
If you click on Tim’s image you can view a larger image of Timothy Paul Holland, convicted murderer. There is a distinction between Lisa’s and Tim’s status. Tim was only convicted of second-degree murder in the death of his 7-year-old adopted son Ricky. Lisa was convicted of just plain old first-degree murder.
It is rather ironic I think that Tim Holland, the man who turned state’s witness against his wife in order to obtain a plea deal for a second-degree murder conviction, is serving his time in a maximum security prison. Whereas his wife, convicted of first-degree murder, is serving her life without parole sentence in a 5-tier facility with her status being set at level IV. Tim Holland’s prison has only one tier level and that is level V.
Tim Holland went from a high-security clearance Army intelligence operative to convicted second-degree murderer living in a maximum security prison all within 1 1/2 years time. Sometimes life is just not fair. Yeah, right…
Here is a bit about what Standish Maximum Correctional Facility is like from their website:
“…Standish Maximum Correctional Facility is comprised of six 88-bed housing units. Three units are for general population; two are for administrative segregation, including detention cells; and one is a protective custody unit. Other buildings on the grounds provide food service, health care, maintenance, programming, and administrative functions. Standish’s mission is to safely house difficult, hard to manage prisoners and work to transition them to lower custody level facilities.(…)” [Source]
The last thing I read about Tim’s incarceration status was that he would be housed in a protective custody unit. I wonder if he has been sent to general population yet or if he is still being afforded the luxury of protective custody.
It appears that Tim will be afforded the luxury of continuing his education via in-cell study programs that are available to inmates who cannot leave their cells for security reasons. Counseling, substance abuse services, therapy for assaultive offenders and religious services are also available to Tim. He can also utilize the on-site legal and general libraries. Gee, perhaps Tim will get his degree in law while he is incarcerated.
Unlike Lisa’s prison experience, it appears that Tim is afforded the luxury of better medical care:
“…Prisoners are provided with excellent on-site routine medical and dental care. Serious emergency cases are treated at the Standish Community Hospital and the Duane L. Waters Hospital in Jackson.(…)” [Source]
I find the above statement extremely ironic considering how Ricky was treated in his final days on this earth. He required emergency medical care that Tim Holland could not bring himself to provide to his dying son. Yet, while he is incarcerated for his son’s death he will be provided with ‘excellent’ on-site routine medical and dental care. Not just average or adequate – excellent!
Tim Holland’s earliest release date is January 2036. That sounds so far away, yet it does not seem like nearly long enough to pay for what he made Ricky go through in his last days on this earth. I put this in the perspective that I followed this case so closely over the past 2 years or so but I may not live to see Tim Holland paroled. I am telling on myself a bit here but by the time Tim Holland is up for his first parole hearing I will be in my 80’s. By that time, if dementia has set in, I will probably not even know my own name let alone Tim Holland’s name.
But I digress…
Both Tim and Lisa Holland will never be lonely like Ricky was because they will be surrounded by people. When they are hungry they will be fed 3 meals a day. Unlike Ricky who was starved and had to dig in the trash and raid neighbor’s refrigerators in order to be fed. They will both get to study and learn more. Unlike Ricky who will never get past the 2nd grade. If someone beats them up in prison they will be treated for their wounds unlike Ricky who never saw a doctor for his many injuries.
The people who harm them will be punished. The funny and sad thing is that is the only similarity in this whole deal except they will still be alive.
