Well, I can tell you, as someone who once was at Scotts Correctional, it is not a picnic. I am so sorry for your loss and it seems to me she should be were she is and should stay there. I was only there for a year, I was in minimum security for a drug crime. I can tell you first hand what her day is like. She is now listed as a Level 2. She has to wake up by atleast 7:45am, and have her bed made military style by 8:00am. Breakfast, is served at 7:25. She gets a little yard time for an hour and a half. If she is involved in any classes, that will be the only break in any routine. She returns to her cell for lockdown and count around 10:30am. Count starts at 11:00, it usually lasts 45min-1hour. Then, you eat lunch. Then, its back to the yard. Then at 3:30 you lock down again for 4:00 count. Then you eat dinner. Then you get some rec time. Then, you go to bed.
The cell is 12 by 8, usually shared with one cellmate, whom you don't get along with. Healthcare is far from "excellent". Its pretty much a joke. In fact, if she got the cold or flu, they won't even call her down to healthcare...noway. You have to be dying, and even then, you'll have to wait 2 weeks!
I hope it helps you to know that she is not living a good life in there. It is a hellhole, believe me. Most important for you to know is this...Once other inmates realize that she is there for harming a child, she will be harassed and not well liked AT ALL. Inmates who have harmed children or murdered them have a rough time in there. I saw it first hand. You cannot even be friends with someone like her, or you too will be a target of getting set-up or beat-up.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. This is a tragedy.
